When we think of models we usually think of tall, lanky supermodels strutting down the runway. But, there is a great petite modeling market that can offer many opportunities for smaller models. Did I say “smaller”? Yep, I did. We really don’t use the term “petite” inside the real modelling industry.
Top agents and bookers usually refer to a petite model as “small”, and we never say “short”. Not sure why major agencies refer to these models as small rather than petite, or call themselves commercial modelling agencies rather than petite modelling agencies, but it’s always been that way ever since I became an agent 30 years ago. That being said, for this article, I will refer to them as petite models.
Petite models are generally under 5′ 7″ and under and can even be successful at 5′ 4″ or less.
